OUR MISSION STATEMENT

The vision for the Food Pantry is to minister to those less fortunate in our community.

Our Food Pantry mission is to

  • serve our community once a month
  • provide enough food to feed a family of four for two weeks
  • show the love of Christ and offer to pray for our guests' needs

At the Food Pantry, we have seen too many salvations to count, lives changed, drug addicts set free, migraines healed, many other healings and the homeless restored.

Pam Vanderpool

Meet our food pantry director

Pam Vanderpool has been our Food Pantry Director since 2016 and has a heart for serving our community.

Pam is blessed with a wonderful husband, Eric, three awesome children and five grandchildren, who are the pride of her life.  She loves spending time with her grandchildren and spends a lot of time at the softball field watching them play.  Pam enjoys her flower gardens as well as restoring and bringing new life to old pieces of furniture.  A new hobby for Pam and her husband, Eric, is camping.  Favorite Bible verse:  “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”  Genesis 50:20

WHAT IF I CAN'T make it to the food pantry to pick up my food?

If you are ill, disabled, or otherwise cannot make it to the food pantry yourself, you can send someone to pick up food for you (a proxy).

You can use a proxy by:

  1. Filling out and submitting a Letter of Proxy. (See below) OR
  2. Submitting a handwritten note stating that you are in need of food assistance including your first and last name, your full home address, and the first and last name of the person you would like to pick up food for you

Upon arrival to the food pantry, the person picking-up the food for you must:

  • Show the Letter of Proxy or the handwritten note to the registration staff. This can be shown as a hardcopy or as an electronic copy. (Photo or email representation of either letter is acceptable.)
  • The person picking-up the order must have his or her own valid photo ID

God Turns a "mistake" into blessings

Pam recalls, "One time I messed up and ordered way too many stuffed animals.  We had at least 400 stuffed animals.  I am sure God was smiling when I did it and he used that to bless so many people.  We had enough stuffed animals to give to all the Food Pantry guests.  One lady just lost her dog and the stuffed animal looked just like her dog and how that comforted her.  Plus we gave all the children in Children's Church a stuffed animal.  And we were able to bless our community at Fun Day with each child there receiving a stuffed animal too.  We might think we made a mistake but God turned it around for good."

A Child is blessed...

A child accepted Jesus one day and was given a Bible.  He held it to his chest and jumped up and down.  The Food Pantry team has blessed many people but we, in turn, have been blessed by our guests.  What a privilege and honor it is to be able to minister to the people in our community.

Food for the hungry grant

The Covenant Food Pantry would like to acknowledge and express our thanks to Food for the Hungry of Knox County for their generous grant of $2000.  Your financial support helps us to continue our mission of providing food for families in need in our community.

Food For The Hungry is a food and money drive made up of many events culminating into a one-day simulcast (broadcast on radio and online). The food and funds collected by Food For The Hungry are distributed to local agencies that work first hand with those in need of food in our community.  For more information on Food for the Hungry, visit their website at foodforthehungrycares.org.
